DIY Microwave Popcorn

I'm a huge fan of eating popcorn for a snack. I love that it's full of fiber but not calories! I've already talked about how easy it is to cook on the stove-top, but sometimes I need to cook it even faster. I recently learned that you can make your own super-quick popcorn by dumping some kernels in a paper lunch bag, adding a tablespoon of olive oil and seasoning, squeezing the excess air out of the bag, shaking to distribute the oil and seasoning, closing it with a little piece of tape, and popping it in the microwave (following the same directions you would for a traditional bag of microwavable popcorn).

Deliciously easy!

  1. I do the same thing! I pre-measure the bags and keep them in my desk at work. 1/4 cup popcorn is the right amount for the bag I use. I keep the oil in a contain, add when ready. I staple my bag shut, with one standard staple, after folding the bag over once. I never have issues with the staple in the microwave. I estimate it costs 7 cents per bag. It yields 3 cups.

I promise I am open to feedback and truly appreciate hearing others' insights into my choices (it's like free therapy!), but please say it in the same way you would say it if we were sitting across from each other at brunch or next to each other on a park bench while our children play.
