Midwife Visit #2

P.S. I'm on the verge of needing to start wearing maternity clothes (either from excessive gas or from my ever-expanding uterus). I hate to buy new maternity clothes for such a relatively short amount of time, and I'm a bit too busy to scour Houston for good, used stuff (school starts s-o-o-n!). If you happen to have a box of maternity clothes that you aren't using and would be willing to lend to me, please e-mail me! I will gladly pay for shipping. I'm 5'7" and I used to wear a size 6/8 or medium.

  1. YAY! I'm so happy to hear your little one's heartbeat! If you haven't heard of this already, I highly suggest a Bella Band. You can find them online or in some maternity stores. (In fact, I saw them at Target in the maternity section a few weeks ago.) It's basically just a band that helps you extend the wear of your regular pants a bit longer. It helped get me through that awkward belly-too-big-but-everything-else-still-the-same-size stage.

  4. Dresses are the best "maternity" clothes. I hated maternity clothes - do NOT go to "motherhood maternity" and buy expensive ugly clothes you will never wear again. I went to Francesca's (there are 5 in houston) the clothes are reasonable and I could wear the dresses during all stages of pregnacy, post-partum, and now! The best part is you can let it all hang out under the dress

  8. such a sweet sound!

before the bellaband you can also do the *hairtie* trick: loop a hairtie thru the button hole of your pants and then around the button-->voila! no need to button up your pants! [now you just need shirts long enough to cover that!]

  15. At around five months I finally needed some maternity things. I went everywhere I could think of and hated EVERYTHING. In desperation I went into Delias and walked out with tons of clothes. I bought everything they had that had a loose fitting belly, which was a lot. The baby doll fit is super popular right now and at eight months, I can still wear them all. I plan on wearing them for postpartum and even beyond. I've been into Motherhood Maternity twice; the first time I was so disappointed but the second time they had a ton of new stuff and a huge sale going on so I walked out with a nice "business" outfit for pretty cheap.

  16. E-bay is a great place to find used maternity clothes too! I found the best strategy was to look for auctions that were lots of several items each(saves on shipping.)

So glad you got to hear a healthy heartbeat. :)

I promise I am open to feedback and truly appreciate hearing others' insights into my choices (it's like free therapy!), but please say it in the same way you would say it if we were sitting across from each other at brunch or next to each other on a park bench while our children play.
