Possible Miscarriage Update
The good news is that the blood is now brownish, which my midwife says indicates it is old and drying up. The bad news is that she is still "really worried" because I've been experiencing a decrease in my pregnancy symptoms ever since the bleeding started (mainly, less tenderness in my breasts and less queasiness). Matt and I are traveling right now, so there's nothing more I can do except take it easy, be patient, and enjoy our time together as much as possible.

XOXO
Thanks for the update, still hoping for you with all my heart!
Keeping you in my thoughts, and try to stay positive. The symptoms do come and go day to day(at least they did for me), so it could just be a weird coincidence. Good luck and keep us in the loop!
Thinking about you and hoping for the best!
When I was 8 weeks pregnant I started bleeding A LOT! Lots and lots of blood. I thought for sure I had a miscarriage - it was way heavier than a period even. I just knew it was over. I was devastated. We went to the hospital and they said there was nothing they could do to stop a miscarriage and I just had to wait. After a week I was still bleeding but it would go from brown to red. They did an ultrasound and the baby looked surprisingly great. They did find a place where the placenta was forming that seemed to be leaking blood and they said it was actually pretty common. Anyways- went on to have a baby 7/8 months or so later and that was just this past January. She's 6 months old now. I hope that brings positive vibes to you. Take care.
Oh Sara my warmest thoughts are with you and as a ray of hopeful sunshine, there are a lot of other causes of pregnancy bleeding. Both my Mom and Aunt experienced this for different reasons and both myself and my cousin turned out great. You have a wonderful community here to support you no matter what, and we wish the best for you.
Have you gone for a u/s yet?
keep loving on each other. i've been in a similar situation twice. once was a real miscarriage, and the other one has become the 2 year old napping on my lap.
thank you for the update. hope it all works out! please keep us posted. enjoy your trip!
Thank you for the update! You are all still in my thoughts and I'm sending good vibes your way! Rest and relax!
I really enjoy following your blogs (I started with your $2000 wedding) and now the pregnancy. I am 5 months pregnant and I want you to know that I had minor bleeding (dark blood) at about 9 weeks after my first visit with my nurse, and all of my first trimester pregnancy symptoms and ill feelings disappeared at 10 weeks...so I'm hoping everything works out for you and you and Matt continue to have a healthy pregnancy.
ps.
I love your Vancouver pictures, that is where I live:)
I hope things turn out alright. Enjoy your time with your husband. You definitely deserve it while you're going through this.
Thinking of you, Sara.
Good luck. I had a similar thing happen to me, but unfortunately it was a miscarriage. On the flip-side I knew several people who experienced some bleeding and had a very successful pregnancy. For me, I noticed a complete disappearance of breast tenderness and nausea. My blood work changed showing that I was no longer pregnant. I never fully miscarried and had to have a D&C. Keep your head up and always realize that +60% women have miscarriages and the early pregnancy tests may or may not be a good thing. Sometimes we may be getting ourselves overly excited before our bodies are ready to carry. Nature knows best!
I too had bleeding during the first trimester of my pregnancy. I was terrified. I also bled (fresh blood) every time we made love. We have a healthy bouncy baby boy now. My thoughts are with you.
Sara, I'm a stranger who is inspired and delighted by your writing about your life. My thoughts are with you. You are surrounded with love and kindness and I know everything will be just fine. Enjoy your trip and your Matt.
Still thinking of you. Brown blood is good news. A decrease in pregnancy symptoms doesn't have to be bad either. I don't know how far along you are but my breasts only hurt for like a week, probably around week 5. As I'm sure you're well aware, having taken so much time to educate yourself, symptoms are different for every woman.
I want to share with you I had the same thing....I bled really bad bright red blood then it turned brown, it's most likely old implantation spotting. OK you say well it's way too late for that right? nope it can take a while. Whatever your body didn't absorb gets released.
The other thing I want to tell you is that coming from someone who has had 4 IVF's and a ooops years later EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON.......I know something you don't want to hear right now but it's true.
I am so sorry you have to go through this and you can do everything right and eat all the right foods and still have this trouble and it's not fair and it stinks and why me? These are questions you or I can't answer only that guy upstairs who makes these miracles....
I was on bedrest and my daughter was 5 weeks early and let me tell you she was worth the wait....she is perfect, i figure I had lessons to learn along the way, and I thank god everyday for my daughter!
I actually plan on writing a book someday but don't have time right now....if you have any questions feel free to email me, I am a RN and a survivor of all that you are going through...

A friend shared your blog with me as we talked and digested the idea of having babies in our future. I'm sorry to read about a possible miscarriage. I had a similar situation with my first pregnancy, which did end in an early miscarriage. As much as I understand the science why and how things like this occur within our bodies, it sucked to feel that my body was charting it's own course without taking into consideration what my heart and mind wanted. Overall it just sucks to not know.
On the flip side, I did become pregnant within a month later (a surprise to us!) and have done well this pregnancy. There is a lot of worry and thoughts I find clogging my brain at times about pregnancy, new baby, etc., but as my husband shares with me, "we can't worry about what we don't know..." (I believe I may have screwed up the quote from his favorite musician, Joe Purdy) it has become my mantra for many things and helps keep my mind a bit quieter and make more space for things that I do know.
Think positive, my thoughts are with you and Matt. Enjoy your trip and time together!
i'm hoping everything is ok.
bleeding or not just remember you are PUPO... PREGNANT UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE!!!! Stay positive and enjoy your trip.
